Malik Fabian-Mahmud is a photographer born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Growing up with his Dominican-Colombian-Palestinian heritage he is captivated by the profound and intricate relationship between human beings and the natural world. He aims to create compelling and evocative portraits celebrating this connection, offering a visual narrative transcending the boundaries of time and place.
Since childhood, I have always been around art, especially documentation. My mother, a photographer would photograph every moment, filling shoeboxes with printed film, and cassettes of home videos. My father with his cases of CDs and shelves filled with vinyl records would introduce me to tons of music while teaching me the history of the artists and the origins of samples and specific genres. The concept of archives and immortalization is so compelling to me. In my work, I aim to immortalize moments from my childhood from shooting in nature as an homage to the days I spent in my grandfather's garden growing up, to just capturing moments with my loved ones on Polaroid. This portfolio is an immortalization of my mind, I hope you enjoy it.

"We are the modernization of nature intertwined while still living amongst nature itself."
